Six major rivers Wang Chhu, Sunkosh, Puna Tsang Chhu, Mangde Chhu, Kuri Chhu and Dangme Chhu has been identified as routes for Kayaking and Rafting. These routes offers river currents of varying flows from slow and gentle to powerful and raging torrents. The operating companies offers courses to all its tourist and categorizes visitors into beginners and veterans. Beginners are offered easy routes whereas veterans can opt for challenging routes. The routes of these rafting and kayaking takes its visitors through scenic river banks and the opportunity to run through the untamed and natural rivers of Bhutan.

Safety:

Bhutanese rafting and kayaking guides are trained and safety is a priority to ensure that visitor’s safety is not compromised. The Tourism Council of Bhutan has invited professionals to study and survey the potential routes of kayaking and rafting rivers in Bhutan. Additionally, the Tourism Council of Bhutan guidelines ensures the safety of its visitors by maintaining standards of equipment’s used and also ensuring a reasonable guide-client ratio.

Bhutan with its huge biodiversity, unspoiled wilderness and its rugged terrains is a paradise for an adventurer or a biking enthusiasts. Bhutan’s landscape lends itself well to both on-road and off-the road mountain biking. In the recent years, biking is gaining its popularity amongst Bhutanese bikers and also opening to the outside tourist as adventure tourism.
In 2010, Bhutan introduced its first international mountain bike race “Tour of the Dragon”. The “Tour of the Dragon” is considered as one of the most challenging and toughest bike race in the world. Bhutan is a biker’s paradise whether it is off-road biking in rural Bhutan or road-cycling on the national highways. Biking routes vary from smooth rides on paved roads to challenging off-road dirt trails that wind through rough terrain.

According to Bird Life International, Bhutan is home to almost 800 species of birds, which consists of at least 16 globally threatened species and another 10 falling in the restricted range.
Beside the White-Bellied Heron and the Black-necked crane which are categorized as rare species, Bhutan is also home to endangered species like the Himalayan Monal, Ward’s trogon, Beautiful Nuthatch, Blyth’s Tragopan, Palla’s Fish Eagle, Chestnut-breasted Partridge, Wood Snipe, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Yellow-rumped Honeyguide and Blyth’s Kindgfisher. One of the most colorful bird –Satyr Tragopan can also be observed in Bhutan.

Bhutan is blessed with many sacred sites which are spread across the entire country. As a Buddhist country, Bhutan is blessed and visited by several saints in the history of Bhutan. One of the great saint’s Guru Rinpoche, also known as the second “Buddha” is believed to have visited the country during the 8th century and spreading Buddhism in the country.

Guru Rinpoche or Guru Padmasambhava is believed to be born from a lotus flower somewhere around the modern day Pakistan to spread and indoctrinate the teaching s of Buddha. Buddhism and his teachings are practiced till date and forms an integral part for any Bhutanese.
